What a week that was. So many talented presenters, so much about AAC and therapy to still learn! Highlights of the week for me, in no particular order were..
Siobhan, Minspeak Maestro, telling us about how technology enables her to access the world. How Covid-19 has impacted her as she self isolates with two carers. So many plans and dreams disrupted, like her bid for the Olympics! There is nothing like hearing from someone who lives and breathes AAC as a native language. Look out for this one as she begins to take over the world!

Nerissa Hall, the woman who literally wrote the book 'Tele-AAC'.
So many practical suggestions about how to use the tech, how to set up different cameras for different views. I loved hearing about the feature matching assessment to enable me to tailor what mode of Tele-practice would be the most appropriate for the families and people I work with. Some hot tips here that I will embed into my own practice. *adds book to pile by bed*
Eleanor and Jenna, Melbourne ladies, your list of apps, websites and therapy ideas were overwhelming. Please collate them for us! I am going to try the spinner with choices for my clients - which toca boca app to do first... is it time to move on from hair cuts.. . .
Sarah Douglas, I could listen to her all day. Act, Observe, Reflect. Such a beautiful collaborate approach towards goal attainment. Self reflection as a clinician to make us better at supporting families through coaching and questions that encourage reflection. How can we do better as clinicians?

Chris Bugaj, Rachel Madel, the dynamic duo who have given us the Talking With Tech Podcast. Times have moved on since Chris and I first played Pokemon Go! together in 2016... https://talkingwithtech.podbean.com/ Chris reminded us of motivational interviewing in the context of AAC therapy, the data on teaching Vs teaching with reflective coaching and how coaching brings your game from 0 to HERO! Rachel shared how google docs can help the whole team keep connected with goals and progress in real time. . . .also she has summary documents on AAC topics and cheat sheets. Get them here --> THANK YOU! https://www.rachelmadel.com/
The Data King, Russell Cross. . . .https://realizelanguage.com/ From a high tech device, Russell can pull data via Realize Language to identify an MLU, token type ratio of words, the time taken to compose an utterance, minutes of device use per day and present these in shiny tables, graphs and word clouds. . . Apart from a desperate need to up my excel game and data analysis skills I think this could significantly value add to my NDIS funding applications.
See you for week 2!
