Well, we survived! COVID and the virtual conference. It has been massive but such a lot of fun.
We had presenters from the UK, the US and Australia with participants from New Zealand as well as locally. We ran 24 sessions - each lasting 90 minutes and often attended by 80-100 people. We had almost 300 people attend. We learned about apps, tricks, platforms, coaching, research and practical issues. And it was a lot of fun. We had sessions from international presenters Sarah Douglas (US), Nerissa Hall (US), Chris Bugaj and Rachel Madel (US) , Rafiah Badat (UK), Russell Cross (US) and locally from Aylin Huzmeli, Christine Porter, Eleanor Francis, Genevieve Johnsson, Jenna O'Brien, Kristin Bayley, Leanna Fox, Rebecca Sutherland, Rui Tong and Sarita Slater (I hope I didn't miss anyone)
And tonight we are preparing for a virtual conference dinner - it would be great if virtual dinners were delicious and only had a virtual impact on the waistline! We need virtual calories! But we will eat, drink and by merry I am sure.
I want to thank everyone for coming along and also being tolerant when things didn't work perfectly. We did our best and sometimes it didn't work so thanks for hanging in there. I also want to thank the many people who offered to chair sessions and provide zoom support.
Thanks to: Darren Trentepohl, Leigha Dark, Arabella Ludemann, Ria Ferris, Tracey Hanigan, Eddie Ong, Aylin Huzmeli, Tina Markoulli, Sabrina Fong, Sheridan Forster, Felicity Lovatt, Jess Dethick, Yvette Theodorsen, Mel Bakes, Jodie Whitford, Freya Allen, Hsui-Wen Chang and of course, to Chloe Wine for all the admin support and generally being one step ahead of the rest of us.
And finally my thanks to the support and ideas team that has been Rebecca Sutherland, Leanna Fox and Sheridan Forster and to AGOSCI for everything you do for people with complex communication needs and those of us who support them.
